White palace donor dinner an aid or Faculty of Political Science
In cooperation with HRH Crown Prince Alexander’s Foundation for Education and Culture, a donor dinner in aid of the Faculty of Political Sciences was organized at the White Palace in Dedinje, with the aim of raising funds for extending the Faculty’s building.
“Our society should provide our students with the best conditions for education. For this reason, a project for extending of the Faculty of Political Sciences’ building was launched, which will enable more efficient teaching in the future. In order to complete the project, this donor dinner was organized. Our schools and colleges are the builders of our future. Education is of great importance, and the study of political sciences is of great importance”, said Crown Prince Alexander.
Prof. Dragan R. Simic, the Dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences, thanked for the donations and cooperation and said that it was his privilege to be the guest at the White Palace, the home of the descendants of Karadjordje Petrovic, Supreme Leader of the First Serbian Uprising and the founder of the modern Serbian state.
“This is the first event that marks 50 years of our Faculty and 70 years of journalism and diplomacy studies in Serbia. We owe our special thanks to our hosts, Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine. Donor dinners in aid of universities do not have a great tradition in Serbia, while in Western countries, the partnership between business and higher education is usual, desirable and fruitful for all who participate in it”, said Prof. Simic.
The goal of this donor dinner is to provide better conditions for the education of the Faculty’s students. In this way, the Faculty will receive a new 2.477 m² of space for its students, which will create conditions for the normal development of teaching, by using modern IT resources, a modernly equipped library, the Internet, computers and electronic databases, as well as conditions for practical and theoretical work of the future journalists, by constructing the Media Centre. The Faculty’s amphitheatre is also expected to be reconstructed.
